How did Thomas Aquinas (ca. 1224-1275) study the Bible? In this episode, we provide a brief overview of the salient characteristics of Thomas Aquinas’ approach to the study of the biblical text. We note, among other things, that Aquinas read the Bible by adopting a distinctively Catholic approach, namely, a conversation with the long standing Eastern and Western tradition of biblical commentary and theological discussion. Thomas was never afraid to pursue answers to the Life Questions by engaging all the available resources at his disposal. Join us this week as we discuss how Aquinas studied the Bible and what contemporary students of the Catholic heritage can garner from his approach to the biblical text.
